Returns are accepted in these instances:
- If the mattress’ factory warranty is triggered due to failure of the mattress under normal wear and tear circumstances, or
- Within the terms of the below 100-day comfort trial.
What is a Comfort Trial?
Many people find their first night on a new mattress very comfortable. Others need to “break in” a new mattress, just like a new pair of shoes. A “comfort trial” allows you to try a new mattress with the peace of mind that you can return it if you aren’t satisfied with it after the adjustment period.
Studies show that often people will experience some level of discomfort with a new mattress. This is normal! If you sleep on your mattress for a minimum of 30 nights and it still doesn’t feel right, we want to help you find a solution. Here’s the scoop:
- You can make a one-time exchange up to 100 days after purchase, provided that you initially purchased and used a “fully encased” mattress protector from us. This is the “Malouf Encase LT Mattress Protector.” It does an awesome job protecting the entire mattress from bed bugs, dust mites, allergens, and accidents. Using the protector allows us to resell returned mattresses in good conscience.
- The mattress to be exchanged must be in the exact condition it was at purchase. Your trial period will be voided if the tags at the head of the bed or foundation are removed. Your trial period will also be voided if there are any stains, burns, rips, tears or blemishes on the mattress or foundation or if there is a smell of tobacco smoke (or any other smoke).
- Breaking in a new mattress is like breaking in a new pair of shoes. Often a mattress will feel much more like the showroom mattress after 4 to 6 weeks of use. Because of that, we do not accept returns before 30 days have passed since purchase to allow for the mattress to be broken in.
- The trial period applies to new purchases only. Clearance and floor model sales are not eligible.
- There is a restocking fee of 10% of the original purchase price of the mattress, adjustable base or foundation. This restocking fee also applies to cancelled special orders made to the factory.
- Standard delivery fees apply if FDM needs to transport the mattress back to the store.
Other than that, it’s pretty straightforward. If you don’t like the way you sleep on it, we will offer you an opportunity to exchange it for another mattress we sell! We are here to serve you and we want you to be happy with your mattress!
